Captivate 3 Publishing :
Type 1.
When you publish a Captiavate 3 cp file, by default you will get 3 files such as x.htm, x.swf, x_skin.swf and x.js.
Type 2.
What if I don't want the skin file seperately (x_skin.swf):
In Captivate 3 Menu,
1. Project >> Skin
2. Borders Tab >> Uncheck Show Borders
What is the difference between Type 1 and Type 2?
Type 1: This output has 4 files, and the skin file is a seperate file, it will not overlap the simulation area (typically the bottom part of the simulation)
Type 2: This output has 3 files, the skin file is not a seperate file, its built in with the main swf file itself. In this case the skin, will overlap the simulation (typically the bottom part of the simulation area).
If you captured some actions in the bottom area, that will be overlapped by the skin file. It may be a problem at some instances.
What is solution for the Problem in Type 2?
To reiterate the problem using an example,
A simulation has been captured using a resolution of 1024 X 700. This is has been published using Type 2. In this, the skin file will overlap a 30 pixal of simulation area. If any action were captured on that particular area of the skin file resides, then those actions will be overlapped by the skin file. It may be a problem for some customers. So the solution is...
Capture the simulation using the designated size and before you go for publishing using Type 2,
Resize the simulation. It means increase the simulation height by 30 pixels.
This resizing can be done using the following steps:
Navigate to Captivate 3 Menu,
1. Go to Project >> Resize Project
2. Uncheck Maintain Ratio
3. Increase the height by 30 Pixel.
4. Select resize radio button and set the color as you desired.
And then publish (using Type 2).
Now the skin file will not overlap the simulation area.
